VAGen/EGL

The working group Cross System Product (ACSPN) is active within the BeNeLux regions of G.U.I.D.E.-SHARE Europe (GSE) since 1988. Because of the evolution from traditional monolithic (single platform) to distributed (multiplatform) applications, and because of the integration in the WebSphere application development toolset and the Rational Software Development Platform, the activities of the working group have been expanded to cover the VisualAge Generator products and the development tools that support the Enterprise Generation Language (EGL).

Participants

Any employee of a GSE member installation within the region can freely participate to the activities of any GSE Working Group except if otherwise stated.

Objectives

To use VisualAge Generator or EGL more efficiently and more effectively. To this end, participants:

• exchange their experiences, initiatives and intentions with other members. This aspect is highly appreciated;
• learn about the IBM offerings in the area of application development methodologies and tools in the VisualAge, WebSphere and Rational family;
• can address formal requirements to IBM about VisualAge Generator and/or EGL;
• can do a presentation with respect to their experiences with VisualAge Generator or EGL.

In order to achieve an optimal match between the members and the Working Group objectives, the members are asked for their points of interest.

Frequency of meetings

The working group has about 2 meetings a year, but this frequency can be changed if necessary. Most of the time is spent on exchanging user experiences. If new announcements are to be made, IBM will care for doing presentations and demo's.

Requirements are discussed during the meeting and are forwarded to IBM. Follow-up and reporting is provided.
