Since joining IBM (1984), mr. van Engelshoven has held many management and executive positions. He began his career at IBM in April 1984 as a junior programmer, and, in 1988, moved from product development to various sales and sales management functions in The Netherlands. In 1998 he moved to the US, where he held the position of Global Sales Operations Executive for the Financial Services Sector. Since 2000 mr. van Engelshoven has successfully led IBM's rapidly expanding Product Lifecycle Management business, initially in the Asia-Pacific geography where he was based in Tokyo and subsequently across Europe, Middle East and Africa out of Paris. Mr. van Engelshoven returned to Asia Pacific in April 2005 taking the leadership role for the Industrial Sector across Asia Pacific, based in Shanghai. Since September 2009 mr. van Engelshoven returned to the Netherlands to lead the growth initiatives around Enterprise Systems.
Before joining IBM, Mr. van Engelshoven worked in the oil industry at Halliburton Co. as Petroleum-Engineer, performing worldwide drilling services on- and offshore and also at Billiton N.V. as consultant on optimizing maintenance schedules of heavy mining equipment at the Bauxite mining plant in Surinam (Latin America).
