IMS - it's just got Smarter
The latest version of IMS (IMS 12) was announced on 5th October 2010. This presentation will give an overview of the many new enhancements including the ability to dynamically change buffer pool allocations for Full Function databases, the provision of a shareable centralised IMS Repository to support Dynamic Resource Definitions (DRD)in an IMSplex, improvements to the DRD IMPORT command which allows you to update resources, Logger enhancements allowing the use of striped extended format data sets with the OLDS, potentially improving logging bandwidth performance, the ability to use TCP/IP connections with MSC and/or OTMA, Type-2 command support for IMS Connect easing its operation, the use of XCF rather than RRS for OTMA and APPC synchronous transactions in a Shared Queues environment, many usability enhancements to DBRC and Extended Address Volume (EAV) support for non-VSAM data sets - to name but a few!
